Bypassing factory amp

Hey guys im about ready to start my first install, and I went to local stereo shop to buy an amp kit. The guy told me I need to bypass the current amp which is attached to the crappy 6.5 sub. He said if I dont I will fry my HU. I tried a search and I didnt find any info on to bypass it and he wouldnt tell me how to do it either..

You must have tapped into the inputs to the factory amp instead of the outputs going to the speakers.The stock amp is located in the passenger kick panel. It should just be clipped on. By-passing the factory amp allows you to use a head unit or an aftermarket amp to power the speakers...therefore you wouldn't be using the factory amp.
